CashPicks respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We handle your information in line with Canada's federal privacy law — the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — and applicable provincial privacy laws.
01 Who we are
CashPicks ("we", "us", "our") is a free online comparison platform that helps Canadians find and connect with licensed lenders for short-term loans. We are not a lender, broker, or loan provider. We don't issue loans, approve applications, or set the rates you're offered.
Because we help match you with lenders, we act as a custodian of certain personal information you share with us. This policy covers information we handle. Once you choose to apply with a lender, that lender's own privacy policy governs how they handle your information.
02 What personal information we collect
We only collect what we need to match you with suitable lenders and operate our service. Depending on how you use CashPicks, this may include:
Information you give us
- Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number, and province or territory
- Loan preferences such as the amount you'd like to borrow and your preferred repayment timeline
- General financial details you choose to share, such as income type (employment, pension, or benefits)
- Messages you send us through our contact form, email, or phone
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, operating system, and approximate location (from your IP address)
- How you use our site — pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 10)
We never ask for sensitive details we don't need. Please don't send us your Social Insurance Number, full bank account numbers, or passwords. Those are only ever entered directly with a lender you choose, on their secure system.
03 How we collect it
We collect personal information in a few straightforward ways:
- Directly from you, when you use our calculator, fill out a form, or contact our team
- Automatically, through cookies and analytics tools as you browse our site
- From service providers who help us run and secure the platform
04 How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Match you with licensed lender partners that can serve your province
- Show you relevant loan options and estimated costs
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support
- Improve our website, content, and matching process
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Ever.
06 Your consent
By using CashPicks and providing your information, you consent to us collecting, using, and sharing it as described in this policy. Where the law requires, we'll ask for your express consent — for example, before passing your details to a lender you've selected.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits. To do so, contact our privacy desk (see Section 14). Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer match you with lenders.
07 How we protect your information
We take security seriously. Our safeguards include:
- 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption for data sent between you and our site
- Access controls that limit who on our team can see your information
- Regular security reviews and monitoring for unusual activity
- Vendors who meet recognised security and privacy standards
No method of transmitting or storing data is ever 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information using industry-standard measures.
08 How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. When it's no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it. If you ask us to delete your data, we'll do so within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain certain records.
09 Your privacy rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw consent to our use of your information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Ask questions about how your information is handled
To exercise any of these rights, email support@cashpicks.ca. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10 Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use CashPicks. Some cookies are essential; others help us improve the experience and measure performance.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly without them. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
11 Third-party links
Our site links to lender partners and other third-party websites. Once you leave CashPicks, this policy no longer applies. Each lender and third party has their own privacy practices — we encourage you to read their privacy policy before sharing your information with them.
12 Children's privacy
CashPicks is intended for adults of legal age in their province or territory (18 or 19+). We don't knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or the law. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be communicated by email or a notice on our site. Please review this page periodically.
